Nanotechnology
Nanotechnology is a rapidly growing area of physics. It is named after the nanometre - a unit of length that is almost unimaginable small. Just a billionth of a metre. That's one twenty-five thousandth of the thickness of a human hair.
Nanotechnology is engineering that works at this level of scale. It involves building tiny machines and circuits from individual molecules, even individual atoms to carry out a specific function. Nanotechnology is destined to change many aspects of our lives, probably impacting most on medicine and computers and electronics. |
