It was started using $10,000 of seed money from Thomas Edison, famous as the inventor of the light bulb, Science has expanded a lot during its long history and is now the world's leading outlet for scientific news, commentary, and cutting-edge research. It boasts the largest paid circulation of any science journal that operates a peer review system. The printed journal Science is now supplemented by a website and together, these serve an audience of over a million people worldwide. Although based in the USA, the journal is completely international with about two fifths of its contributors working in research labs outside the USA. Its articles consistently rank among world's most cited research. |
